updateing graphics card

hey its cd\navy. i bought a new laptop. its a gateway model 8646. its a great computer but it lags a little when i play games. i was woundering if i can replace the graphics card in it. what card i should get. and whats the best way to replace it.

Well dude, everything depends on the specifics.
For instance, what graphics card WILL work with your motherboard,
how much money your willing to spend, etc.
What mobo do you have?

the xfire rig upload would not work. how else would i find out what kind of mobo i have? im willing to spend a few hundred.

i got the xfire one to work the type of motherbord did not show up. my current graphics card is Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

With laptops you can't replace the video card Laptops are one unit in order to replace you have buy a new laptop.

I found the chipset you are talking about, but you need to be more specific about the laptop.

the question has been answered -- there is nothing he can do about it now. the video card on a laptop is permanent.
better to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and erase all doubt.

Actually there are some laptops that you can upgrade or expand video capabilities.

oh? which? camel has told me about the external card that ati is making/made, but other than that i can not think of a single other option. i guess maybe dell's wow laptop can have cards changed, but i have no idea (it has dual 8600m's i think).

Theres one for now, I found another site earlier that listed all the Dell or Gateway laptops that could be haxed and upgraded but I cant find it now....
