Does anyone know how to use flash???
Id like to make myself a site using flash but, how would i go about learning how?
I have macromedia MX 04, and could probably go get any others~

I personally found Flash to be, ummm, difficult. Won't be a huge help here, alot was done, trial and error. Timelines, stages, action scripts, preloaders, ehhhh. Not impossible, but you can get prepared for alot of reading. IMO.

You see the effects and transitions are flash images, (basically a movie with pictures) and you can interact with it.
Right click anywere on taht page and it says about macromedia flash, you can read about it

Well THAT is the million dollar question. Web Presentation software ?? Design Software, Programming Language ?? Yes, all of the above, and more.

If you are coding for the web, you can use alot of formats. HTML, DHTML, XML, CSS, JAVA, and Flash. It's a VERY efficient way of using and displaying images, that can have interactivity with users. If you are smart, and keep your images, gifs, backgrounds small, and NON photographic, you can squeeze incredible amounts of stuff, in a small package. That's where it excels, imo. You can turn basically everything into a movie.

The design can be non user friendly is you're not VERY good with it. Things are built on a timeline, and you can have layers, similar to Photoshop. You can place actors on the stage, at certain points in the timeline. Define movements, transitions, effects, etc, that will move you ahead, or back in the timeline. It can be VERY flashy, hehe, but there are limitations as well.

One of the NEAT things about it is that you can define certain things, and/or text areas with a name, and have that name be a SEPERATE text file. This is called using Dynamic Content, or Text. This can be a huge time saver, once you've built the site, have it send out calls to a text file, then use THAT information, used in the site.

Flash is great, but it's hard. You are also VERY limited as to what html is suported inside a dynamic text file.

Is that like when i rightclick\rewind on EXG Page it has a small HTML like area? that would be your dynamic Content?

It's more than that, it's for everything, except the layout. ALL content, images except for the BG, and all text, links, etc. is all called out to a dynamic text file.

Ummm tips, hehe, well, Flash is basically it's OWN programming language. Forget all the content you can deliever with it, but basically, it's it's OWN language. There are turorials out there enough to make your head explode. I just learn just enough, and/ or start with templatized versions, hack them up, mod them, or visit sights I like, and either view source code and reverse engineer it, or ask permission to see the FLA files, which most times, or sometimes, they will offer up. Flash files (crude example) fall into two catagories. FLA which is NOT compiled for web browsers is the RAW flash file, which can be edited, changed, and viewed as a source code. Then after your happy with it, you compile it (loose term) into a SWF, which is more of a browser friendly, software version, that is un editable, and viewable only. With that said I suggest you search for Free Flash Templates, and get a copy of Macromedia Flash MX, and start by opening up the FLA files, and start to learn how the stage, actors, timelines, transitions, preloaders, all interact. Also a beginner book would not be a bad idea also.
